Faisalabad Administration Plans to Shift Industries Out of the City

The Divisional Administration of Faisalabad has taken an important step toward sustainable industrial development and long-term urban planning by forming the District Industrial Relocation Committee. The committee’s main goal is to relocate industrial units from residential and congested areas to designated industrial zones as part of the Industries Out of the City  initiative.. This will not only reduce pollution and traffic problems but also create a more organized and safer environment for both residents and businesses.    

Consultation and Surveys    

To ensure well informed decisions, the committee will consult all relevant stakeholders, including:    

  • Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce    
  • Sizing Associations    
  • All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA)    
  • Small Industries sector    

Additionally, the committee will carry out comprehensive surveys to identify industries causing environmental hazards, such as air, noise, and chemical pollution. Based on these surveys, it will prepare practical plans for relocation.    

Key Responsibilities of the Committee    

  1. Develop a shared roadmap for relocating industries from residential areas.    
  2. Ensure industrial zones have appropriate infrastructure and necessary facilities.    
  3. Plan land acquisition and smooth transfer of industries to new locations.    
  4. Address urban challenges like:    

    • Air pollution    
    • Industrial wastewater management    
    • Traffic congestion    
    • Public health concerns
