Fuel one more time got costly. New rates came on May 1, 2026. Every person who drives feels it. Whether you ride a bike or run a business, this matters to you. In this guide, we will discuss this topic in detail.  So, full details are mentioned below.

What is the petrol price in Pakistan Right Now?

The current  petrol price in Pakistan  is Rs. 399.86 per litre. This started on May 1, 2026. Every pump in Pakistan charges this price. PSO, Shell, Total Parco, Attock, all follow the same official rate. No pump can charge more or less.

1 Litre Petrol Price in Pakistan

One litre costs Rs. 399.86. This is RON 92, the standard fuel. It is used in cars and bikes. A 10-litre fill costs around Rs. 4,000. A full 40-litre car tank costs roughly Rs. 16,000.

Diesel Rate in Pakistan Today

The Diesel is now Rs. 399.58 per litre. It jumped by Rs. 19.39 at once. That is a big rise. Buses, trucks and tractors run on diesel. When diesel goes up, everything gets costly. Vegetables, courier charges and construction material all rise together.

Hi-Octane Petrol Price in Pakistan Today

Hi-Octane is not everyday fuel. It is for powerful, big-engine cars. Normal bikes do not need it. PSO Hi-Octane is around Rs. 670 per litre right now. Shell V-Power may differ slightly.  Petrol prices  vary by company and city. OGRA does not set Hi-Octane rates. Every company decides its own price. Always check the board at your pump first.

Do you need Hi-Octane?

If you ride a 70cc or 125cc bike — no. Regular petrol is enough. Using Hi-Octane in a normal vehicle wastes money.

Why Did Prices Go Up Again?

Several things happened at once.

War in the Middle East

The US and Israel attacked Iran in February 2026. Iran shut the Strait of Hormuz. This is a major oil route. Global supply dropped fast. World oil rates jumped immediately.

Costly Crude Oil

Pakistan imports most of its oil. World crude prices went up. Import bills got heavier. That extra cost reached your pump.

Government Levy

The government collects a levy on every litre. Petrol levy is now Rs. 103.50 per litre. A new levy of Rs. 28.69 was also added on diesel.

Rupee Lost Value

Oil is bought in US dollars. Rupee got weaker. Same oil now costs more in Pakistani currency.

Weekly Reviews

Prices used to change every 15 days. Now they are reviewed every week. Rates can go up or down more often.

After PM's Address

Rs. 378/L  (levy cut)

April 25, 2026

Rs. 393.35/L

May 1, 2026

Rs. 399.86/L

The highest ever rate was Rs. 458.40 per litre on April 2, 2026. PM cut the levy. Prices dropped. Now they are climbing again.

Will Prices Go Up More?

Nobody knows for sure. It depends on the Middle East situation. It depends on the rupee value. Government levy decisions also matter. Check OGRA's website every week for fresh rates.

Are All Petrol Pumps Open?

Yes. Every pump is open. Working normally. A fake message spread on social media. It claimed pumps would shut from May 1. That was completely false. OGRA denied it. Petroleum Division denied it. Pump Owners Association rejected it, too.

Current stock levels:

  • 28 days of petrol in reserve
  • 34 days of diesel in reserve

No shortage and no fuel crisis. Just costly fuel.
