The Punjab Government has made a major decision about the Patwar system and land record management.

1️⃣ Return of Powers from Patwaris

The government has taken back major powers from Patwaris. Earlier, Patwaris controlled many land-related processes, including property transfer and record updates. Now:

  • Patwaris will only maintain records and assist in verification.
  • All legal and record verification will be done at courts or authorized centers, not solely by Patwaris.
  • This ensures a more secure and fair system for landowners.

2️⃣ Centralized Land Record System

Under the new system:

  • Land records  will be handled through a central record center.
  • Property buying and selling will be tracked in a clear, registered sequence.
  • Landowners will no longer need to rely solely on Patwaris.
  • Every property transaction will be recorded, giving landowners full proof of ownership digitally.

3️⃣ Benefits for the Public

These changes aim to:
✅ Save people from unnecessary obstacles
✅ Stop corruption in land transactions
✅ Make it easier to access  land records  through modern technology

4️⃣ Key Points

  • The Patwar system is being modernized; Patwaris now have limited powers.
  • Property transactions will be recorded and verified digitally.
  • This step ensures transparency, security, and faster service for all citizens.

In simple words:

Punjab is reducing Patwaris’ powers and making land records digital and centralized. Landowners will have secure proof of ownership, fewer hurdles, and easier access to property services.
